WEBINAR: DOCUMENTATION AND DIGITIZATION OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, we had the opportunity to attend the webinar "Documentation and Digitization of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Issues and Good Practices."

The event was organised by the National Documentation Centre (EKT), in collaboration with the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture (see photo), as part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (UNESCO 2003).

According to the organisers:

"The adoption of UNESCO's 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage triggered a significant paradigm shift worldwide, highlighting the importance of living heritage, and led, at the institutional level, to a series of policy measures for its promotion, safeguarding, and enhancement.
During the event, with the participation of representatives of relevant institutional bodies, scientists, and researchers in the field, issues were addressed concerning the documentation and transfer of this complex knowledge into the digital environment—from both an epistemological and technological perspective—while taking into account ethical and legal aspects, as well as the diverse needs of users, including the communities and bearers of intangible heritage, as well as those of education, research, tourism, and the creative industries."
