THE “PEER-TO-PEER BEEHIVES” TRAVELLED TO IOS

06/11/2026

How can one child become another child's teacher? In Ios, the pupils of the island's Primary School found the answer through creativity and collaboration!

As part of the Cyclades' Way of Bee-ing project, the educational team of the Syros Hermoupolis Environmental Education Centre delivered a three-day educational activity entitled "Peer-to-Peer Beehives", transforming the school into a space for learning, creativity and discovery.

The children learned more about pollinators and took part in three hands-on workshops:

🌸 Ceramics: creating flower-shaped water stations (Bee cups).

🕯️ Beeswax crafting: making candles from pure beeswax.

🏡 Woodworking: building a Bee hotel.

The most wonderful part? The children were not just participants; they became teachers themselves! First graders guided sixth graders, second graders taught fourth graders, and the third graders – our little storytellers – guided both fifth-grade classes.

Because knowledge becomes more meaningful when it is shared!

The children's creations will find their place in the classrooms and the schoolyard, while the ceramic pieces that still need firing will soon make their way back to the island, completing their journey.

For Beelosophy, activities like this truly reflect our philosophy: we draw inspiration from the world of Bees to build bridges between people, nature and culture. Just as in a beehive, collaboration, mutual support and everyone's contribution have their own value within an educational community.

The "Peer-to-Peer Beehives" continue their journey. Next stop: Tinos!
